Personalised mug: ordering guide from 25 pieces

· by Guillaume

Hands preparing printed mugs in a workshop

Ordering 25 identical mugs? This guide explains suitable marking techniques, the reason for the 25-piece minimum, washing resistance and how to prepare your files.

Why 25 identical mugs is common

The 25-piece minimum is driven by technical setup: machines and our supplier require preparation and setup costs. We explain this clearly before quoting.

“I remind customers there are technical costs that impose a minimum quantity with the machines we use”
Guillaume's advice

Which techniques work on mugs

Not every textile technique applies to mugs. Common options we use:

  • Sublimation: for white mugs with a coating made to accept sublimation — good for photo wraps and vivid colours.
  • Screen printing on objects: for simple logos in one or several colours. See Screen printing on objects.
  • Pad printing (tampography): ideal for curved surfaces and precise small-area prints. See Tampography on objects.
  • Digital printing: available for some object types. See Digital printing on objects.
“DTF is not possible on mug. It's either sublimation (if the support allows), screen printing or tampography”
Guillaume's advice

How to know a mug accepts sublimation

A compatible mug is white and has a coating designed for sublimation. Without that coating, sublimation won’t work. We check compatibility with our supplier before production.

Washing resistance — what we control

Washing resistance depends on technique and settings. We choose settings depending on the print type. Some methods tolerate dishwashers better; other times we recommend handwashing.

Production time & delays

For a standard run of 25 mugs, production at our workshop is typically 6–7 working days. Delays have happened when transport between our specialised mug supplier and our workshop faced issues — strikes, demonstrations or logistic errors. In such cases we inform you and find a solution.

Preparing your artwork

Provide vector files (EPS, PDF, AI) when possible. High-resolution images for photos. Our graphic studio can retouch or vectorise logos before printing.
